What a busy weekend! First, thank you for your prayers for our safety. Our instructions included visiting two areas late on a Friday or Saturday night. We chose Friday. The city comes alive after dark. Young people are everywhere, many with drinks in hand. The environment was definitely differant than what I am used to. It was eye-opening to see how so many young people here spend their evenings. After walking through and observing, we made it safely back to our apartment. Thanks for your prayers!
I'll quickly summarize the rest of our weekend with pictures.
We took the train to Camogli. The waves crashed up on the beach. We enjoyed Penne Camogli (pasta) by the sea.

On Sunday, we found the ONLY Baptist church in all of Genova. In fact, there's only around 1,500 Christians in a city of close to 900,000. We arrived early and were greeted by so many people. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. Although the service was all in Italian, we picked up on bits and pieces. They even sang "Blessed be Your Name" in Italian! We partook with them in communion. Afterwards, so many people introduced themselves to us. Many ethnicities are represented in the church. We met people from the Philippines, India, Spain, England... The young people go out for coffee after church, so we joined them, although not many were there yesterday. After this, two of the guys, when they found out we planned to go to Boccadasse that afternoon, decided to join us. We had a great time exploring together. It was a beautiful day. Nice to talk with other believers!

We are now on to Phase 3 of our Cultural Immersion Project. We report to the team on Wednesday afternoon. After that, who knows!
